Greater Things
Oak Hills Church - Greater Things from Fearless Films on Vimeo.
Welcome to Greater Things,
Eighteen years ago God began to do some great things in a small group of people meeting in a church basement. They believed the Lord had called them to start a church to reach the unchurched. It’s time for a new generation to take the lead and do even Greater Things. Jesus promised in John 14:12 “anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works”
When Jesus was on this earth he showed people what God was like. He loved and healed and introduced the coming Kingdom of God to this fallen world. He has now handed that ministry to his church. We at Oak Hills Church are determined to be his church right here on the corner of Coachman and Yankee Doodle Road.
Here is what we would like to do in the next three years:
1 Improve our ministry within the church by completing our present building and equipping our staff with the tools they need to do the work the Lord has called them to do.
2 Enhance our ministry to the world by building two homes on our property where missionary families can live during the year they are on furlough resting and raising support for their next term.
3 Increase our ministry to the neighborhood by researching and designing a ministry center that will love and reach out to our community.
If you are willing to pray about partnering with us in doing even Greater Things then watch the DVD, read through this brochure and simply do whatever the Lord asks you to do.
God bless you,
Rod Carlson

Projects:
Unrestricted
All funds given to this option will be used toward completion of all projects under this Greater Things capital campaign. Our financial board of officers will use wisdom to decide which order projects should be started and completed to make the most efficient use of your giving. If you feel you would like to specifically designate your money based on a strong heart for one of those projects, then feel free to do that.
Building Completion - $190,000
In the summer of 2001, we moved into our building with the main level about 80% finished and the upper children’s level about 50% finished. Since 2001 we have made progress toward completing both areas so our ministries have the full potential available to them. Now we feel it’s time to complete these areas so we can focus on ministry to our city. Some of the larger cost items we still need to complete are auditorium blackout shades, additional auditorium theatre lighting, exterior sign on Yankee Doodle Road, exterior landscaping completion, kitchen for Big Room and 12 smaller projects.
Ministry Needs & Technology - $110,000
Oak Hills has been blessed with incredible staff to lead our different ministry areas. We not only want to complete the unfinished areas of the building, but make sure we give our staff the tools necessary to minister to the kids and adults of this area. As we have grown and technology has changed, we need to support our staff with the right tools. Some of those ministry needs are Auditorium Sound Wireless Equipment, Electronic Security Check-In system for Kids Ministry, Lighting for Elementary Ministry area, new band equipment and seven smaller projects.
Two Missionary Homes - $610,000
3462 Coachman Road & 3466 Coachman Road are the addresses that will be a place for our missionaries to live for one year while they raise funds for their next 3-5 year term on the mission field. These missionaries would also serve on a limited basis with our staff and share their lives with our OHC community. Currently we support 40+ missionaries that could use these homes while they are back in the U.S.
Youth & Ministry Center Design Fund - $80,000
God has blessed us with wonderful facilities, however, we are facing significant challenges in some ministry areas. Oak Hills Institute, children and students consistently compete for limited space, often resulting in noisy, distracted ministry areas. As we seek to address these issues, the reality is that increased ministry space will bring more people to OHC and produce other challenges. Therefore, now is the time to plan, design and get great council as to how to best utilize the additional land next door.
While ministry is first and foremost about people, we believe that greater space is crucial to fulfilling the mission in our community. This space would allow us to offer more classes to the community like tutoring, learning English, finance and budgeting classes as a few examples. The Youth & Ministry Center would add about 20,000 additional square feet for OHI classrooms, Youth Center, Computer/Learning Lab, Youth Auditorium, additional office space and more.
